2008 APPLICATIONS ARE NOW AVAILABLE!!

Camp Wapiyapi is a week of fun and hard work. We take approximately 80 kids including all kids with cancer and their siblings. We divide up into teams and have a week of fun. Activities include arts and crafts, sports carnival, water gun fights, high and low challenges, and dances; none of which you would recognize in our Camp Wapiyapi way. Everything is about having fun, acting like a kid, being silly. Kids stay for 5 days, and we ask companions to join us for the orientation the day before camp.

You do NOT have to be affiliated with a medical profession to help with camp. We take volunteers in all positions.  Our companions are required to be at least 18 years of age, and we do ask that they fill out a full application and undergo a background search. We always have more volunteers that spots for them, so we are picky in who we take. Our kids are incredible, and we expect our companions to be fabulous people who can give enough for that week to make it the best week of our campers' lives.

Requirements:

·        Companions must be able to attend camp from Saturday morning until Friday afternoon.  It’s an overnight, 7-day commitment but definitely worth it!

·        Our volunteers (companions) are required to be at least 18 years of age. We ask that those interested in camp send us a full application and undergo a background search.

·        Letters of recommendation are only required for first-time volunteers. We ask that you submit three letters of recommendation from friends, employers, or others who know you well. If you are a returning volunteer, you do not need to submit letters of recommendation, but we still need a complete application.

To apply for a staff position at Camp Wapiyapi, follow the correct link on our home page to download an application.  Just fill it out and return it to our address

All staff applications must be submitted by April 12, 2008.  We will make our final decisions by April 8, and notify all applicants accordingly.  We always have more volunteers that spots for them, so we are very particular about who we accept. Our kids are incredible, and we expect our companions to be fabulous people who can give enough that week to make it the best week of our campers' lives.

Thank you for your interest in Camp Wapiyapi.  We are looking forward to hearing from you.  If you have any questions, please email mailto:aaron@wapiyapi.org ?subject=Volunteer Information.
